Vinton Cerf was born on June 23, 1943, New Haven, Connecticut.
Minor Contributions
Cerf served on many government panels related to cybersecurity and the national information infrastructure.
Major Contributions
Cerf and Kahn soon worked out a temporary version of the ARPA Internet. Together, with many colleagues helping out, they made TCP/IP, an electronic transmission protocol that separated issues about TCP from issues related to IP.
Education
Cerf received his B.S. in Mathematics from Stanford University in 1965. He earned his M.S. (1970) and Ph.D. (1972) in Computer Science at the University of California, Los Angeles.
